About Us

DISCOVER VINTAGE AMERICA was founded by Ken Weyand in 1973. Originally called “Discover Mid-America”, it was born out of a variety of regional publications combined. Ken sold the magazine to Bruce Rodgers in 2000 and in 2011, the name was changed to Discover Vintage America.

Patti Klinge began working for Discover in July 2013 as the art director and took on the role of publisher in December 2018 when Bruce Rodgers retired. The publication was owed by a corporation called Affinity between October 2018 and February 2020, at which time ownership was passed to Patti.

The publication has had several editors over the years including Rhiannon Ross until April 2012 when Leigh Elmore took the reins. Leigh worked as the editor of Discover Vintage America from April 2012 to April 2020, when he retired. During his tenure, the publication received several awards from the Kansas City Press Club. You will find his delightful cover story articles in the archives.

Our current editor, Corbin Crable joined Discover in April of 2020 when Leigh Elmore retired. He was Patti’s mentor from time working on The Campus Ledger, the JCCC student newspaper while she a student in the Graphic Design program there. He is a free-lance journalist and former journalism instructor and faculty adviser at JCCC.

The publication is now owned by Discover Vintage Revival, LLC.
