Steam engines rev up for Old Trusty

The 43rd annual Old Trusty Antique Engines and Collectors Show is right around the corner, bringing with it a variety of antique machinery to see in action.

This year’s Old Trusty will take place Sept. 6-7 on the fairgrounds in Clay Center, where visitors can marvel at steam and gas engines, antique cars and trucks, draft horses, tractor pulls, antique tractors, and more than 225 antique, flea market and craft vendors.

While on the fairgrounds, kick up your feet to the sounds of the Bobbie Layne Big Band and The Calhouns, who will provide live musical entertainment.

For more information, call 402-726-2487 or visit www.oldtrustyshow.org.

Hit the road for Junk Jaunt in late September

Make plenty of room in your car’s trunk for treasures
you’ll find throughout Central Nebraska’s annual Junk Jaunt, Sept. 26-28.

Hundreds of homes in three dozen towns along the Loup River and Sandhills Journeys Scenic Byways will participate in what event organizers call a “300-plus-mile yard sale.” Along the way, you’ll find sellers of antiques, vintage items, collectibles, and more.

It is recommended to plan your trip well ahead of time, and to that end, organizers offer a shopper guide, which includes street maps showing restaurants and lodging, vendor addresses, and historical information about the area. Organizers say the event acts as a solid boost to many local economies.

You can order the Junk Jaunt Shoppers Guide for $13 at www.junkjaunt.com.

For more information on the event, call 308-346-5151.
